Canada’s Agriculture Day

L-R Andrea, Alexandrea, Coy, Charlie, and Gordon McKenna
Farm & Food Care Prince Edward Island is proud to feature Gordon and Andrea McKenna, along with their three children, Coy, Alexandrea and Charlie who farm in beautiful Kinkora, PEI. Gordon is a third-generation farmer who also farms potatoes along with his parents, Greg and Karen McKenna. Recently, Gordon and Andrea purchased a carrot and turnip farm which was named by their kids.  Gordie and Andrea are fantastic leaders in agriculture and have been inspiring us to know more about where our food comes from.  They host farm tours, present at high school and elementary school events, and hire coop students for the opportunity to mentor young people. Canada’s Agriculture Day is a time to showcase all the amazing things happening in the industry and help everyone see and learn about where their food comes from.  There are many ways consumers can participate in the all-day event. Share what you’re doing on social media using the hashtag #CdnAgDay and start the conversation. Everyone can tune in and learn about carrots, turnips, and potatoes!
