With the diverse amount of crops planted across the Island, there is such a variety of machinery used to plant, spray, and harvest crops. The help that tractors bring to chores helps farmers immensely, as well as skid steers, 4-wheelers, dump carts, etc. The size of these machines has grown significantly over the years, and the way they are operated has changed considerably.
Many crops have machines unique to them, such as wild blueberry harvesters, potato harvesters, and 4-row carrot planters. It is typically not easy to distinguish what attachments to tractors or trucks are used for and the sequence they are used in. This is why we have created the PEI Farm Equipment Glossary! Below you will find photos of machines and a short description of what they are.
